Design WD202 DAC
Discovering your WD202: Rear view
1
XLR OUTPUTS
If your amplifier offers XLR inputs connect to the L & R outputs, making sure R is
connected to the RIGHT input of your amplifier and L to the LEFT. Pin out is Pin 1 - Ground, Pin 2 - Hot (in
phase), Pin 3 - Cold (phase inverted).
CAUTION
Before making any connections make sure that your WD202 is switched off. If you are in doubt,
unplug the mains cable. When making connections always be sure all components are off. Neatly arrange and
organize wiring from your WD202 to other components. Always separate AC cables from audio cables to
prevent hum or other unwanted noise being introduced into the system.
2
RCA AUDIO OUTPUT
Connect your amplifier to the RCA outputs of your WD202. Be sure to connect the
R output (red) of the WD202 to the right input of your amplifier and the L output to the LEFT input.
3
COAXIAL DIGITAL OUTPUT
The digital optical output allows you to bypass the WD202 when, for
example, it is used in conjunction with a home theatre processor. First connect your source (CD/DVD
player) to the WD202. Then connect the WD202 in analog to your power amplifier and in digital to your
processor. By doing this you can enjoy your music using the WD202 as the DAC/preamplifier but still be
able to use your processor in multi channel format when enjoying a movie. This digital output can also be
used to connect a digital recorder.
4
DIGITAL OPTICAL INPUT (TOSLINK)
Connect any digital source (CD player/DVD/ Blu-ray
player/computer etc.) with a high quality TOSLINK fibre optic interconnect cable designed specifically
for audio use.
5
USB INPUT (Type B)
The USB input allows a direct connection to a PC/MAC. Operation is fully
independent of your computer soundcard and operates whether your computer has a soundcard or not.
6
7
AES/EBU
This input is used for the connection of any professional digital source equipped with a ‘Type 1’
balanced AES/EBU output using a high quality 110 Ohm interconnect cable designed specifically for
digital audio use.
UPGRADE PORT
Not for use by the end user
DIGITAL COAXIAL INPUT (S/PDIF)
Use this connection for any digital source using a high quality coaxial
interconnect cable (75 Ohm) designed specifically for digital audio use. Please note that the WD202 will
only decode and output 2 channel PCM digital audio. If a Dolby digital 5.1 or DTS signal is detected both
RCA/XLR and headphone outputs will be muted. If you plan to use a DVD or Blu-ray player as your source,
please make sure the digital output of the player is set to 2-channel PCM (sometimes known as ‘stereo
downmix’), and not to RAW or any other format.
IR IN
This is used for the connection of an infrared receiver (R: 5V/L: IR signal)
