Control Mode Selection
The control mode that is appropriate for your application can be selected from among the three available with the drive.
Overviews of the control modes and their features are given below.
Table 1.6 Control Modes and their Features
Note the following points when using the main control functions in
• The V/f control mode (multimotor control) for drives is available with software versions PRG: 0108 and later.
• Perform Rotational Auto-Tuning when it is possible to separate the motor and the machine during test run. After
performing Rotational Auto-Tuning, adjust the control system within the range where the machine does not vibrate.
Rotational Auto-Tuning can only be performed when an induction motor is run in OLV or CLV.
• In vector control, combine only one motor with one drive. Multiple motors can be controlled by one drive in V/f
control mode only. Select the drive capacity so the motor rated current is 50% to 100% of the drive rated current. When
running multiple induction motors in parallel using a single drive, the capacity of the drive should be larger than 1.1
times the total motor rated current.
• When performing speed estimation type speed search, combine only one motor with one drive. The motor capacity
must be the same as the drive or one frame lower.
• The torque restriction of the OLV control mode will give priority to accel/decel during accel/decel (during soft starter
change). In addition, even if the motor speed drops during constant speed due to a torque restriction, it will not operate
if the speed is less than the minimum frequency or in the reverse rotation direction. Set L7-07 = 1 (integral control) in
cases where a torque limit has been enabled during accel/decel (for use in winding machines, etc.).
