.If necessary, remove the valve adjusting screw

and lock nut
(Figure 6-7, (8))
from the rocker arms.
Removal of Cylinder Head
1.
Loosen the cylinder head bolts following the
sequence shown in
(Figure 6-8)
.
1. Fan Side
2. Camshaft Side

Remove the cylinder head bolts
(Figure 6-9, (1))
.
3.
Lift the cylinder head away from the cylinder block.
Discard the cylinder head gasket
(Figure 6-9, (2))
.
Position the cylinder head on the work bench to
prevent damage to the combustion surface.

Removal of Intake / Exhaust Valves
1.
Place the cylinder head on the work bench with
the combustion side down.
2.
Using the valve spring compressor tool, compress
one of the valve springs
(Figure 6-10)

Remove the valve keepers
(Figure 6-11, (2))
and
valve cap
(Figure 6-10, (1))
from the end of the
valve.
