Advanced Features

SCENE — A New Level of Operating

Ease

Four SCENE buttons make operating the

receiver easier than ever. They are initially

set to default settings for DVD Movie

Viewing, Music Disc Listening, TV Viewing

and Radio Listening. Pressing a SCENE

button automatically launches a

number of operations that initiate play of

the source controlled by that button. Other

SCENE settings are also available, such as

iPod Listening, TV Sports Viewing and

Action Game Playing. Browsing and

selecting the settings is quickly

accomplished by rotating the Input knob

and watching the on-screen display. The

settings can be selected for one-time use,

or they can replace the original default

settings. The SCENE names can be

changed also.

Improved YPAO Sound Optimisation

The RX-V661 has an improved YPAO

system that automatically selects the

crucial frequency bands for the listening

room, and adjusts the level of the selected

bands to create a cohesive sound field in

the room. You can vary the type of the

parametric equalizer adjustment among

Natural, Flat and Front.

Independent Operation of Zone 2

You can enjoy sound in a separate room

(Zone 2) because the RX-V661 provides

Zone 2 audio output. Furthermore, Zone 2

power amplifier assignability and speaker

terminals mean that Zone 2 can be fully

independent with its own 2-channel

power, while you still enjoy 5.1-channel

sound in the main room.

Digital ToP-ART with Superior Audio-

Grade Parts and Devices Used

Throughout

Yamaha’s Digital ToP-ART concept

combines the latest and best technologies,

parts and circuit designs to maximize

sound quality. These include an 12,000

μ

custom-made block capacitor, high grade

Burr-Brown DACs, and two direct signal

path speaker relays and other high quality

audio-grade parts. High Current

Amplification uses superior components to

achieve high current power and low

impedance from the low-noise power

supply to the speaker terminals.

Pure Direct for Highest Sound Quality

Pure Direct is a special receiver mode that

causes the signal to bypass all but the

most basic audio circuitry, and even turns

off the display to prevent any chance of

noise interference. It provides the purest

possible high fidelity sound from all

sources including HDMI inputs.

HDMI Ver. 1.2a with Support for

Super Audio CD

This receiver incorporates the High-

Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI)

1.2a specification. Listeners can enjoy

crystal-clear, digital audio quality via a

single HDMI cable, including Super

Audio CD.

1080p Compatible HDMI Inputs and

Output

This receiver features dual HDMI inputs

and one output that support 1080p (1,920

x 1,080 progressive) resolution so users

can connect two HDMI sources, such as a

DVD player and a high definition set-top

box, and enjoy the highest possible quality

with a 1080p display.

Video Up-conversion and Component

Video Output with TBC

The RX-V661 is equipped with high-

definition video up-conversion circuitry

incorporating high-performance video

encoder/decoders from Analog Devices. A

Time Base Corrector (TBC) transforms

degraded analogue video signals into a

stable format for distortion-free viewing.

Upgraded CINEMA DSP Programmes

Yamaha’s popular CINEMA DSP

programmes have been upgraded for this

receiver. Action and Role playing games

deliver awesome sound with the latest

game machines. Other programmes have

been fine-tuned for even better sound and

revised for easier selection.

Compressed Music Enhancer

When music is encoded in a digital

compressed format such as MP3,

frequency response suffers in the high and

low ranges. Yamaha employs sophisticated

digital signal processing with exclusive

algorithms, enabling faithful reproduction

of the original music, for the excellent

sound quality expected from top class

receivers.
