VIII. Explanation of Terminology
GSM: Global System for Mobile Communications.
GPRS: GPRS has broken through the ways of GSM network can only provide circuit
switching and only realize the packet switching by partially reconstructing the
corresponding function entity and existing base station systems.
WAP: Wireless application protocol, an open standard protocol used to send the Internet
information to the mobile phone or other wireless communication terminal.
SMS: Short Message Service, with it, different mobile phones can send and receive
short message from one another, most contents are texts, or figures, it‟s the
earliest short message format of mobile phone.
EMS: Enhanced Message Service, it can integrate the simple tunes, pictures, voice,
animation and texts, etc. together and then send and display on the mobile phones
with EMS function.
MMS: Multimedia Message Service also called colorful message. With it, the mobile
phone can receive and send the multimedia message, including texts, voice,
images and video, etc.
IMEI: Every mobile phone will be written with a unique electronic serial number upon
delivery, namely, IMEI code generally referred to. It serves as the ID card for
everyone. Just press corresponding command key in standby status, the mobile
phone will display IMEI code.
