AF O
UT
Jack
This is a 3.5 mm miniature phone jack which pro-
vides constant-level (100 mV @ 600
Ω
) for connec-
tion to a WeatherFax decoder, tape recorder, or other
accessory. The audio output level is not affected by
the setting of the front panel AF G
AIN
control, so you
can turn the volume down, if you like, without affect-
ing the audio level being presented to your decoding
device.
The connection to the A
F
O
UT
jack is at the same
level as the connection to Pin 4 of the D
ATA
jack. How-
ever, the two output ports use independent output
buffer amplifiers, so you can freely connect and dis-
connect devices to/from these ports without concern
over the impedances and levels.
PTT Jack
This RCA jack is wired in parallel with the D
ATA
jack’s
Pin 3, and may be used in conjunction with a com-
puter or TNC’s PTT line, if desired.
P
ATCH
Jack
For transmit audio input for SSTV (Slow-Scan Tele-
vision) operation, you may connect the SSTV
terminal’s T
X
A
UDIO
line to the P
ATCH
jack. You will
need to disconnect the microphone, however, during
transmission, as the P
ATCH
jack is connected in a “Y”
configuration along with the microphone input (from
pin 8 of the M
IC
jack).
