CHATTER™ DATA LOGGER

Time and time zones
Internally, the Chatter™ Data Logger uses Unicersal Time
Coordinated as its time zone. Unicersal Time Coordinated
equals Greenwich Mean Time without Daylight Saving Time.
Unicersal Time Coordinated is perfect for machines, but a bit
impractical for humans, as the time in Unicersal Time
Coordinated seldom matches the time in your local time
zone
The PC program Chatter™ Link takes care of this, it converts
time from your local time zone to Unicersal Time
Coordinated before sending it to the Chatter™ Data Logger.
When Chatter™ Link reads data from the Chatter™ Link, it
does the opposite conversion, thus displaying time stamps in
your local time zone.
Chatter™ Link uses the time settings from your PC to do this
conversion.
The Chatter™ Data Logger does not recognize
time zones. This results in a time shift when
Daylight Saving Time goes into or out of use!
A dditional inform ation:
How Chatter™ Data Logger uses time
You want the Chatter™ Data Logger to make a daily call at
15:00 local time. Your Chatter™ Data Logger is set up in
Denmark and Daylight Saving Time is in operation when you
make this setting
The PC program Chatter™ Link first converts the time from
Daylight Saving Time to a time without Daylight Saving Time,
the interim time is 14:00
The PC program Chatter™ Link then converts the interim
time to Unicersal Time Coordinated, this equals 13:00
This is the time sent to the Chatter™ Data Logger
The Chatter™ Data Logger will make the call when its
internal clock reaches 13:00 Unicersal Time Coordinated.
13:00 Unicersal Time Coordinated equals 15:00 during the
summer season where Daylight Saving Time is in use
The Chatter™ Data Logger will make the call when its
internal clock reaches 13:00 Unicersal Time Coordinated.
13:00 Unicersal Time Coordinated equals 14:00 during the
winter season where Daylight Saving Time is not in use
