The Steri-Lite Micro Bead Sterilizer is for the
sterilization of small research instruments
(forceps, scissors, etc.). The instrument
chamber is filled with glass beads, set to a
high temperature (up to 300ºC). The high
temperature eliminates bacteria, spores and
other microorganisms. The typical exposure
time is about 10 seconds for sterilization of
commonly used items, such as forceps, scissors,
tweezers, scalpels, inoculation loops, etc.
DISPLAY
The control panel has an LED display that
displays the status of the instrument.
•
LED is Flashing–The instrument is heating.
•
LED is On–The instrument is holding the
set temperature.
•
LED is Off–The instrument is off.
SETUP
Prior to sterilization, make sure the surgical instruments to be sterilized are free
of tissue and other debris. They should be clean.
1. Place the sterilizer on a clean, flat, stable surface with at least 7.5 cm of
ventilation on all sides.
2. Fill the chamber with the dry glass beads. The chamber should be filled to
approximately 5 mm from the top of the chamber. The chamber should be
filled with
glass beads only
! Other materials used to fill the chamber void
the warranty.
3. Press the power switch on the back of the instrument to power it on. The
actual chamber temperature displays.
4. Press the knob, and the set temperature light flashes. Turn the knob to the
desired temperature setting, and then press the knob for 2 seconds to set
the temperature. To stop the instrument from heating, press the knob for
2 seconds.
5. After the desired temperature is reached, insert the surgical instruments
into the glass beads.
NOTE
: The top 2.5 cm of beads may not be within the recommended
temperature for proper sterilization. To decontaminate 5 cm of an instrument, it
must be inserted 7.5 cm into the beads.
To sterilize small instruments, place the instruments into the beads in the
chamber for 15 seconds. For larger surgical instruments, the recommended
time is one minute.

CARE AND MAINTENANCE
WARNING: THE INSTRUMENT CHAMBER HEATS TO VERY HIGH
TEMPERATURES (UP TO 300ºC). THEREFORE, THE HOUSING MAY
GET HOT (UP TO 60ºC). AVOID CONTACT WITH THE HOUSING OF
THE STERILIZER AFTER THE CHAMBER IS HEATED.
The instrument comes with a cover/lid. When not in use, we recommend
covering the chamber to prevent dust and unwanted debris from entering the
chamber.
Clean the instrument with a damp cloth and light detergent. DO NOT use
solvents, as they may attack the steel or plastic housing.
