ADJUSTING HYDRAULIC PUMP BELT TENSION
Check the condition and tension of the hydraulic pump belt every 30 hours of chipper
operation. The belt is self tensioning via a spring. However, the amount of tension can be
adjusted by doing the following:
1) If installed, the PTO shaft should be disconnected from the chipper for safety and to
allow rotation of the belt guard.
2) Check the tension of the belts by pressing on it with your finger. There should not be
any free slack in the belt. It should be under firm tension.
3) If the belt requires more tension, the eye bolt that the spring attaches to can be
tightened. This will stretch the springs further and increase the belt tension until the
desired tension is achieved.
