User Interface (Cont.)

Cup/Carafe & Volume Selection

Choose between Cup and carafe dispense,

selecting either displays the appropriate

symbol on the screen. (See Fig. 5)

The last volume selected for the mode will

be displayed in the centre of the icon, this

will flash to show that it can be changed;

the volume can be adjusted by using the up

and down arrows on the right of the screen.

Note:

In cup mode the volume can be

adjusted: 8, 10 or 12oz; while in carafe mode

the volume can be adjusted: 4, 6,8,10 or 12

cups (1 cup is equivalent to 5oz).

Strength Select

The strength can be adjusted for each

dispense volume independently. Once

you have tuned the appliance to suit

your taste it is unlikely that this will be

changed. The last setting is remembered

and stored for future use.

Depress the “Coffee strength” button;

the bars between mild and bold on the

screen will flash to indicate they can be

changed.

The strength can be adjusted by using

the up and down arrows on the right

of the screen. There are four strength

settings: Mild, Medium, Bold and Extra

Bold. (See Fig. 7)

Note:

 The strength is controlled by

adjusting the quantity of water passing

through the coffee grinds. The higher

the strength setting the more water

that passes over the grinds and the less

water through bypass. There are separate

controls for each volume setting as the

optimised setting for a single cup is

unlikely to be the same as for a 12 cup

carafe (especially if you use single pods

in place of loose grinds).

To select KEEP WARM depress the keep

warm button; when selected “Keep

warm” will be displayed on the screen.

(See Fig. 8)

Keep warm can be selected at anytime

whilst the display is active or while the

appliance is brewing/dispensing.

Keep warm switches on at the end of the

brew cycle and remains on for a period of

2 hours.

While keep warm is active and the

keeping warm plate is hot, “Keep warm”

will flash on the screen and the LED

behind the START/STOP button will flash

red.

At the end of the 2 hours the appliance

switches off and the keep warm setting is

no longer displayed.

Note:

Keep warm is optional and only

works while the appliance is in Carafe

mode and has to be selected every time

that it is desired.

Keep Warm

Sound feedback is used to provide the user with feedback on the

water heating and brewing progress

All audible signals sound a beep or multiple beeps.

Whenever the START/STOP button is depressed this is accompanied

by a single beep.

At the end of the water dispense or brew cycle but before keep

warm (if selected) there is a double beep to provide feedback to the

user that the coffee or water is ready for use.
