8- Installation
1. Place the Encoder
See section
7.1-Placing the Encoder
for important guidelines on placing the encoder.
2. Install the SD Card (Optional)
The SD Card slot is located on the front of the encoder.
3. Connect The Encoder to the System
Recommended Cabling
Ethernet
Cat5e/Cat6
DC Power
16/2 (if using a remote power source other than a PoE switch)
Audio In/Out

A. Connect the Ethernet connection to a Cat5e/Cat6 cable. The opposite end of the Cat5e/Cat6 will be connected to the
network switch.
B. Connect the analog camera.
Recommendation:
The analog camera should be installed and configured prior to completing the installation of the
encoder.
C. Connect the DC Power In to a 12V DC 1.5A power supply.
D. Connect the Audio In to a microphone feed from the camera, and the Audio Out to the input of an amplifier or PC.
(Optional)
E. Connect the RS485 D+ and D- to a PTZ analog camera. (Optional)

F. Connect an Alarm output or input to the connecting block located on the front of the encoder. If no alarm functions are
being used, this step can be omitted.

G. Connect the relay In and Out to control or be controlled by encoder functions.
