2. Removal
1) Attach the sling (94435C) to the
intermediate wheel (5, Fig. 2 ).
2) Attach the two manual ratchets
(94016F) to the sling (94435C) and the
applicable attachment points in the
column.
3) Operate the manual ratchets to hold the
weight of the intermediate wheel (5).
4) Remove and discard the lockwire from
the 12 bolts (8).
5) Remove the 12 bolts (8).
6) Remove the two covers (9).
7) Remove the screw plugs (7).
8) Remove the taper pins (6).
Note: The intermediate wheel (6) has the
mark DRIVING END. Record the
position of the intermediate wheel.
9) Operate carefully the manual ratchets to
remove the intermediate wheel (5) from
the drive column.
10) Lower the intermediate wheel on to an
applicable surface.
11) Remove the four bolts (10) and the
locking plates (4).
12) Remove the four locking bars (3). Make
sure that the bearing pin (2) is
horizontal.
13) Make a mark on each bearing (1) to
identify their positions.
14) Remove the two bearings (1) from the
bearing pin (2).
3. Installation
1) Apply clean oil to the two bearings (1).
Note: When you do step 2 ), use the marks
made before to make sure that the
bearings (1) are in the correct
positions
2) Put the two bearings (1) in position on
the intermediate wheel (5).
3) Attach the sling (94435C) to the
intermediate wheel (5).
4) Attach the two manual ratchets
(94016F) to the sling (94435C).
