PROCEDURE
1 Remove the Allen screws (006, Figure 12-13 ) and the locking plates (010) on the
bearing cover (007) at the free end.

2 Remove the bearing cover (007).
3 Remove the Allen screws (002) from the bearing cover (003).
4 Remove the bearing cover (003) and gasket (004). If necessary, discard the gasket.
5 Use the feeler gauge to measure the clearance between the pin (005) and bearings
(001, 008) at the positions (009).
6 Compare the clearance with the data given in section 3.3 Clearances - general .
7 If the clearance is not in the permitted limits, replace the applicable bearing then
continue from
Step 8 . Refer to:
• 12.2.2 Integrated electric balancer - remove the bearing (engine side)
• 12.2.3 Integrated electric balancer - remove the bearing (outer side)
• 12.2.9 Integrated electric balancer - install the bearing (engine side)
• 12.2.10 Integrated electric balancer - install the bearing (outer side) .
If the clearance is in the permitted limits, continue from Step 8 .
8 Clean the inner surfaces of the covers (007, 003.)
9 Apply Loctite No 640 to the inner surface of the cover (007).
10 Attach the cover (007) and the two new locking plates (010) with four M16 Allen screws
(006).
11 Apply Loctite No. 640 to the inner surface of the cover (003).
12 Attach the cover (003) and the gasket (004) with the four M16 Allen screws (002).
