1 Engine Summary
1.3 Fuel operating modes
X62DF-S2.0
The amount (or ratio) of the diesel injected is predominantly a function of the en
-
gine power and is controlled by the ECS. The expected amount is shown in
, while the thickness of the line indicates that there is a certain
tolerance range.
The CSM comes as standard technology with engines that have iCER. Gas mode
is not Tier III compliant if the CSM is activated.
Fuel sharing mode
The fuel sharing mode is initiated only by the operation and can be used for
reaching the balance between an LNG carrier’s boil-off and the desired ship
speed. This can be done by adjusting the ratio of the liquid to gas fuel.

—
available operating window
The fuel sharing mode is available in a defined working window (see
). Like CSM activation (see the subsection
), the minimum amount of liquid fuel is dependent on the engine power
and is limited by the ECS. During fuel sharing mode the engine is Tier II com
-
pliant.
NOTE
While the CSM is active, the engine is Tier II compliant.
NOTE
Fuel sharing mode is an available engine option but must be contracted
(with additional cost).
