Safety Notes
have the machine repaired before using it again. Do not attempt to repair it yourself. Have the
machine repaired by a qualified professional or turn to the Westfalia Customer Support.
Do not reach unto the working area to remove pieces or for any other reason while the
machine is running and the saw assembly is not locked into the resting position.
Make sure the machine is, if possible, solidly mounted or clamped to a workbench or table.
Long work pieces should by all means be supported with an additional support such as a
roller support.
Make sure there are no nails, screws or similar items in the work piece.
Special Safety Notes for Bench Saws:
Check the saw blade before every use. Do not use a damaged or cracked saw blade.
Immediately replace it with a new saw blade which conforms to the European Norm
EN 847-1. The saw blade must also be in accordance with the data given in the technical
data section of this manual.
Saw blades made from high alloyed high speed steel (HSS Steel) must not be used with this
machine.
Do not leave the bench saw if the saw blade has come to a complete stop.
Make sure all parts are securely mounted and have proper function. Especially make sure
the blade guard (H) is freely movable. Under no circumstances the blade guard should be
jammed upright.
Do not reach into the cutting area of the saw blade when the bench saw is running.
If the table insert becomes damaged, it must be replaced.
Wear protective gloves when handling the saw blade and coarse materials. Please
keep in mind that wearing Gloves while operating the saw is a safety risk and
should not be done.
Wear hearing protection.
Saw dust from some species of wood can be hazardous. Therefore, wear a dust
mask.
Always use some kind of dust bag when working with wood. Ideally, use a dust
extractor.
Long workpieces should be supported at the ends. A roller support is most suitable for this.
First allow the saw blade to come to working speed and than bring the workpiece close to the
saw blade. Thereby you will avoid a kickback.
Make sure the cutting area is free from workpieces and adjusting tools. Small workpieces or
wrenches can get be thrown away from the rotating saw blade and cause injuries.
Only cut one workpiece at a time.
Do not touch the saw blade after operation. The saw blade might become very hot.
