Application Note
1. Introduction
In the above application, the PC will be able to connect to the Easy Relay device using a
GDW-11 modem connected to the GSM network. The PC will need to have an
external
modem connected to establish a call to the remote location. It is not possible to use an internal
modem, as EASY-SOFT Pro only allows communication via COM ports.
This application note will explain what is required to setup a GDW-11 modem and the Easy-
Soft Pro software to enable programs to be downloaded and uploaded to the Easy Relay unit.
In order to complete these instructions you will need the following items as a pre-requisite:
CSD Enabled SIM Card with a
separate
data number assigned
EASY-SOFT Pro V6.20
Moeller PC-CAB Serial Interface lead
GD-Tool configuration software
Straight through, male to female, 9 way serial cable (for programming GDW-11)
A suitable SIM card can be bought through Westermo. We will arrange for the data number to
be assigned at the time of purchase.
If you only have EASY-SOFT Pro V6.10, update to V6.20 by using the update link within the
menu of the program.
The GD-Tool configuration software is supplied on a CD-ROM with the GDW-11, or it can be
downloaded from the Westermo website:

The serial cable will need to be fully terminated, GD-Tool will not work with just pins 2,3 & 5
connected!
