Transport Chair
Preparing To Stand
1. Make sure the front caster wheels are
in the forward position before preparing
to sit.
2. Engage both wheel locks on the rear
wheels by pushing the handle on the
wheel lock. To make sure the wheel
locks are engaged properly, gently push
on the hand grips to ensure the transport
chair does not move.
3. Unlock the front riggings by releasing
the lock on the side of each frame, and
swing the front riggings to the outside
of the frame.
4. Place both hands on the armrests of
the transport chair, and lean forward until
you feel some of your weight on your
feet (figure 9).
5. Use your legs to sand as much as
possibly, your arms should only lift
what your legs cannot. Use your arms
mostly to help keep your balance as
you stand (figure 10).
6. Do no walk forward until you have
tested your balance and you feel strong
enough to walk.
