3.4 DTV742 Controls and Indicators
There are three major parts of your DTV742’s front-panel controls and indica-
tors: the liquid-crystal display (LCD), the six push buttons, and the eight LED
indicators. Essentially all control available through the terminal is also avail-
able through the front panel (shown below in Figure 3.7).

Display(LCD)
The DTV742’s 2-line by 20-character LCD indicates unit status and prompts
for and reflects user input. Here, you will see the DTV742’s "home screen"
(the default LCD screen, see Figure 3.8 below) which rotates through data
from each of the four RF inputs. The channel number, modulation type (8VSB,
64QAM, or 256QAM), signal-to-noise ratio, and errored seconds are displayed
for each input.
No matter which LCD screen is currently displayed, pressing the
ESC
button
repeatedly returns the display to the home screen (Figure 3.8 below). From the
home screen, press the
ENT
button to display the unit's serial number and the
application software version number. Using the adjacent push buttons, you can
navigate the DTV742's various screens and edit input fields (see
