7.2 Air Handler Mountin g to Roof Curb
After the c u rb has been installed, the air handler may be placed on the c u rb. See Page 14, Figure 4 . After the
air handler is in place, the installer m u st fasten the air handler to the c u rb. This is accomplished by drilling
holes do w n thro u gh the floor of the air handler and into the c u rb. At least three #12 sheet metal scre w s
(s u pplied by others) eq u ally spaced on each side m u st be u sed to attach the air handler to the c u rb. After the
c u rb has been installed, the air handler may be placed on the c u rb. There m u st be a 1/8" (.3 cm) x 2" (5.1
cm) neoprene closed cell, adhesi v e-back gasket (s u pplied by others) bet w een the top of the c u rb and the
base s u rface of the air handler to pre v ent moist u re from leaking into the b u ilding from either dri v ing rains or
melting sno w . The installer is responsible for tying the air handler to the c u rb per all applicable codes.
