Step 02. Hip scoot

1

. This next manoeuvre is called the ‘hip scoot’. Look your baby

in the eyes, pick them up under their arms and rest them on your

shoulder.

2

. Now gently lower them into the bucket seat in an embrace

position. Make sure their bottom is comfortably positioned just

above the waistband and their legs are wrapped around your body.

3

. The leg padding adjusters should be positioned over baby’s

knees/thighs for added support.

4

. Once baby is completely settled in the papoose, take one of your

hands and slip your arm up through the middle so that the shoulder

strap falls off your shoulder.

5

6

. Take your other hand and slip that arm underneath the

shoulder strap enabling you to cup baby’s bottom in your hand,

taking their weight.

7

. Now scoot baby in the papoose around your waist, over your

hip and on to your back.

8

. You can now return your hands and arms back through the

shoulder straps one at a time. Whichever direction you scoot the

papoose, return that arm through the shoulder strap first.
