Cabinet Penetrations
4.5 CABINET PENETRATIONS
4.5.1 Locations
In most cases, the sides and bottom of the cabinet can be used for connection to external
wiring. However, there are limitations to ensure compliance with product codes and
standards. This section provides limited information. Refer to Chapter 6, Installing the
Batteries and Chapter 5, Connecting Cables to Electronics Components for additional
details.
4.5.2 Underneath Penetrations
Limited space is provided for conduit hubs and wiring under the battery shelf.
Temporarily remove the battery shelf to gain access, noting the space available for fittings.
4.5.3 All Penetrations
All fittings, conduit hubs, and wiring glands must be UL, CSA, or EU approved/listing for
the application. For outdoor applications, this must include watertight rigid fittings.
Use a hole saw or GreenLee-type punch to cut the required holes. See Table 4.1 for the
hole size and flat surface area required.
