Test the Audio and Monitoring Bridge
The Audio and Monitoring Bridge provides an interface from the external audio system to
the HPSA-7100-R. The Audio and Monitoring Bridge allows audio from an external audio
system to be broadcast by the HPSA-7100-R.
Before beginning the following tests, ensure the audio system is configured correctly for
the application.
7.3.4.1
Testing Supervision
1. Generate a trouble in the HPSA-7100-R by a suitable means. An example of
generating a trouble is removing AC power to the HPSA-7100-R. The following
actions take place when a trouble is generated in the HPSA-7100-R:
The trouble contacts of the AC Trouble (
J2
T1 Com and
J2
T1 NO NC) close
with the AC removed.
The external audio system shows an open trouble on the NAC/Sounder circuit
on input active if using closed contacts.
2. Restore the trouble on the external audio system (if you removed AC power in
Step 1, then you would apply AC power). The trouble on the external audio
system restores to normal operation.
7.3.4.2
Testing the Activation of the External Audio System
1. Notify the local authorities the system is going to activate.
2. Notify any personnel in the area that a test is upcoming and apply sufficient ear
protection.
3. Use an appropriate method to activate the external audio system that is connected
to the Audio and Monitoring Bridge (the party responsible for the other audio
system’s installation, operation, and maintenance should determine the
appropriate method to perform this function).Upon activation, the audio from the
external audio system will be broadcast from the HPSA-7100-R.
4. Reset the output on the external audio system. The audio on the HPSA-7100-R
turns off.
It might be necessary to contact the party responsible for the other audio
system’s installation, operation, and maintenance in order to activate the
NAC/Sounder as per an appropriate method.
Verify the quality of the incoming audio signal is acceptable; the quality of the
audio at the horns is dependent upon the quality of the incoming audio
The Audio and Monitoring Bridge has six trouble outputs. Refer to Table 7.7
for the six trouble output states, jumpers and connections.
