Feeder Modules
8. Remove the plastic sensor housing: Note:
• DF4F Serial Nos. up to S1000153 and DA4F Serial Nos. up to
S1100226: Pinch together the sides of the top clip.
• DF4F Serial Nos S1000154 onwards and DA4F Serial Nos S1100226
onwards: Remove the plastic peg from the top clip.
9. Using a small electrical screw driver, prise the sensor from the sensor
housing. Note: The sensor housing can be re-used, but should be replaced
if it is damaged when removing the sensor. When re-assembling, slide a
plastic peg (310-716) through the top clip to secure the sensor housing in
place.
10. Push the emitter bulb down into the emitter housing using an Allen key or
similar. Pull gently on the emitter cable until the emitter bulb is released
from the emitter housing.
11. Carefully release the emitter/sensor cable assembly from the sticky pads
on the separator bracket. Leave the pads in place as they can be used to
secure the new cable.
12. Remove the emitter/sensor assembly from the machine.
13. Position the new emitter/sensor assembly in the bin.
14. Using a suitable blunt object, carefully push the emitter bulb into the emit-
ter housing.
15. Fit the sensor into the sensor housing.
16. Attach the sensor cables to the sticky pads on the separator bracket. Secure
them with new cable ties.
17. Connect the end of the cable assembly into the bin control PCB and secure
the cable, at the correct length, to the hexagonal stand-off post.
18. Re-fit the conveyor shaft assemblies.
19. Calibrate the newly installed sensor (see Section 3.5.6).
20. Reassemble the rest of the machine in the reverse order to disassembly.
21. Test the machine to verify correct emitter/sensor function.
3.5.6 Bin Emitter/Sensor Calibration
When changing bin control PCBs, emitter/sensors, fitting an extra bin module
or when spurious feed errors are encountered; it will be necessary to calibrate
the emitter/sensors in the bin modules.
Each bin has its own emitter/sensor for sensing feed errors. This may be
adjusted using individual potentiometers located adjacent to the bin in ques-
tion, on the bin control PCB.
Procedure
1. Remove any paper that may be in the bins and switch off the mains power
supply to the DigiVAC.
2. Remove the L/H side covers from the bin modules that require emitter/sen-
sor calibration.
3. Open the rear door and remove the rear conveyor assembly.
4. Put the DigiVAC into calibration mode: Press any one of the bin on/off
buttons on the appropriate bin module, whilst switching on the mains
power. All the bins in that module will now be in calibration mode. This
will be indicated by the yellow bin indicator light being illuminated.
