7. Now that you have the fan and cradle removed, remove the 4 screws framed in green,
the fan will fall out when these are removed.
8. Install new fan, note the orientation of the cables framed in red, this is how you will
want to install the new fan (you will also want the cables to be routed to the
“top” of the
cradle to plug the cable in easily. There is a small notch that you can use as an
indicator to route the cable at the top of the cradle.
9. Screw the new fan in.
10. Follow the steps in reverse to install.
11. When complete, start the system. The fan should be much quieter now. Watcher
recommends starting the system and make sure it works before tidying cables and
reinstalling the side panel.
*As a tip, when installing the cradle back into the swap bay, push in the left side with the
“tab”
first, then push in the right side. The cradle has
“buttons” on it and it will click when in place. Be
sure to plug the fan into the same header you pulled it from, it will only go in one way. Tidy up
cable with a zip tie.
