Remote Control Installation

Connecting the MAIN (UMC-117 )
remote control to the water heater:

Drill a 1” (2.5 cm) to 1.5” (4 cm) hole
at the proposed control location.

l

l

Install the extension cable between the
location of the remote control and the
water heater.

l

l

Remove the base plate from the control.

l

l

Draw the remote control extension
cable through the central in the base
plate.

l

l

Fix the base plate to the wall using
suitable screws and wall anchors.
Ensure the projections on the base plate
are pointing upwards.

l

l

Connect the remote control cables to
the extension cable from the water
heater.

l

l

Place the remote control over the base
plate.  Ensure the projections in the
base plate fit into the housings in the
remote control.

l

l

Fix the control to the base plate at the
bottom of the remote control using the
screw provided.

l

l

Proceed to “Connecting the remote
control to the water heater”, to
complete installation.

Connecting the remote control to the
water heater:

Ensure that the power to the water
heater has been disconnected.

l

l

Remove the front cover of the water
heater.

l

l

Insert the remote control extension
cable through the hole at the bottom
right hand corner of the water heater.  

l

Connect the wires to the terminals on
the top right hand side of the Printed
Circuit Board (PCB) as shown in
Figure to the left.

NOTICE: The remote control wire
connection terminals are not polarity
sensitive.

Firmly tighten the terminal screws.

l

l

Secure the remote control extension
cable using the appropriate clamp.

l

l

Replace the front cover of the water
heater.

l

l

Switch on the power supply to the
water heater.

l

l

Ensure proper operation of the remote
control and water heater.
