5.3.1
GENERAL RULES FOR MAKING ADJUSTMENTS TO THE SPRAY GUN

safety instructions
in Chapter 2.
5.3.2
PREPARATION FOR STARTING UP
The following points should be noted before commissioning:

For earthing see paragraph 5.1.5; make sure that all other conductive parts within the
work area are earthed.
➞
Connect the material hose to spray gun and material pump..
➞
Check that all material-conveying connections are correctly connected.
➞
Connect air hose to spray gun and to oil-free, dry air, approx. 0.25 MPa; 2.5 bar; 36 psi.
Compressed air quality class 3.5.2 according to ISO 8573.1.
➞
Check that all air supply connections are connected properly.
➞
Connect the electric cable to the spray gun and to the VM 5000 or VM 500 control
unit.
➞
Visually check the permissible pressures for all the system components.

Danger to life from malfunctioning heart pacemakers
Ensure that persons with heart pacemakers:
Do not work with the electrostatic spray gun.
Remain outside the area of the electrostatic spray gun/work -
piece.

Unintentional putting into operation!
Risk of injury
Before all work on the unit, in the event of work interruptions and
functional faults:
Switch off the energy/compressed air supply.
Relieve the pressure from the spray gun and unit.
Secure the spray gun against actuation.
By functional faults: Identify and correct the problem, proceed
as described in chap „Trouble shooting“.
