Thank you for purchasing the Self Charge Auto Jumper by Wagan Tech.
With normal care and proper treatment it will provide years of reliable
service. Please read all operating instructions carefully before use.
Do not use the Self Charge Auto Jumper with a completely discharged
battery
Charging a Weak Battery:
•
Be sure the Self Charge Auto Jumper is not connected to the
vehicle before attempting to start vehicle.
•
Turn off lights and all other electrical accessories (e.g. fan, radio,
windshield wipers, etc.) Turn on the small interior light to use as
an indicator that the battery is charging.
•
If you have a car alarm, the car alarm must be put into "Valet
Mode". Many popular car alarms will cut off power to the vehicles
electrical system. If you have this type of alarm, the Self Charge
Auto Jumper will not work if the alarm is engaged.
•
Make sure your cigarette lighter socket is clean and free of debris.
•
Plug the Self Charge Auto Jumper into the cigarette lighter socket.
•
Push the "On/Off" button to the "On" Position.
•
The light on the 12-volt cigarette connector will illuminate to show
charging has begun. The interior light will also illuminate.
•
If the light or dial does not brighten, turn on the ignition key to the
"Accessories" position (see vehicle owner's manual). If your
vehicle's 12-volt cigarette lighter or power source is off when the
ignition is off, be sure the ignition key is set to the "Accessories"
position during the recharging process.
•
If the interior light does not brighten, turn off the interior light.
Allow the unit to remain in the cigarette lighter for at least 35
minutes.
•
Attempt to start the vehicle. If the vehicle does not start, DO NOT
attempt to start the engine more than twice. Call a service center or
tow truck.
Recharging the Self Charge Auto Jumper:
•
To recharge the Self Charge Auto Jumper through the vehicle, push the
"On/Off" button to the "Off" position, and simply leave the Self Charge
Auto Jumper plugged into the cigarette lighter socket for 30 to 60 minutes
while the engine is running. This will provide enough charge for future
use.
•
Do not leave the Self Charge Auto Jumper plugged into the vehicle
cigarette lighter socket when the vehicle is not running. This will not
cause any damage to your vehicle battery, but may discharge the Self
Charge Auto Jumper.
Using the Self Charge Auto Jumper as a 12-volt DC Power
Source:
•
The Self Charge Auto Jumper comes equipped with a 12-volt DC power
socket.
•
The socket of the Self Charge Auto Jumper has a positive (+) center pin.
Most, but not all, 12-volt DC accessories come with this configuration.
•
Before connecting any 12-volt DC accessory to the Self Charge Auto
Jumper, Check the polarity of the accessory (see accessory owners
manual).
•
For DC accessories that do not have a positive (+) center pin, do not
operate at 12 volts, or have a different connector, you must use a DC-to-
DC adopter (sold separately).
•
The Self Charge Auto Jumper is designed to operate a number of DC
accessories successfully: 12-volt radios, cellular phones, PDAs, etc.
•
A DC-to-DC adapter set is required to run these accessory items and is
available at most discount department stores.
Storage and Precautions:
•
The Self Charge Auto Jumper is NOT waterproof!
•
It will be damaged if submerged in water.
•
When not in use, the Self Charge Auto Jumper should only be stored in
an environment temperature of 32 F to 110 F.
•
During operation, the Self Charge Auto Jumper may become warm.
•
Discontinue operation if the Self Charge Auto Jumper becomes too hot.
