Dual action PaC:
The Vortec Dual-Action PAC utilizes a standard 1/4” Industrial
Interchange quick connect fitting to allow for easy attachment to existing
filtered compressed air lines.
The Dual Action PAC can be used to provide a chilled air supply or a
heated air supply to the user. Hot air exits from one end of the Dual
Action PAC and cold air exits from the opposite end. These connections
are ¾” male garden hose threads. The temperatures of the air streams
can be adjusted slightly by changing the compressed air pressure to
the Dual Action PAC.
The Dual Action PAC can supply chilled or heated air to one of Vortec’s
Diffuse Air Vests (Models 855, 857 or 859, purchased separately) or
to a hood or helmet. The belt is attached to the Dual Action PAC for
horizontal orientation but can be easily repositioned to allow for vertical
orientation when used with a hood or helmet if desired.
maintenance
The Dual Action PAC may be disassembled for cleaning. When replacing
the cold cap on the Dual Action PAC it is important to torque the cold
cap to 100 inch pounds. For best results, use only clean filtered air.
1. Do not operate a Dual Action Personal Air Conditioner at air
pressures above 150 psig (10.3 bar).
2. Do not operate a Dual Action Personal Air Conditioner at line
temperatures above 110
o
F (43
o
C).
3. Avoid direct contact with compressed air.
4. Do not direct compressed air at any person.
5. When using compressed air, wear safety glasses with side
shields.

LimiteD warranty
Vortec compressed air products manufactured by ITW Air Management
will be replaced or repaired if found to be defective due to manufacture
defect within ten years from the date of invoice. Diffuse Air Vests are
not covered by this warranty if the vest has been removed from the
packaging and placed into service.
Refer to our website
www.vortec.com
for full warranty details
and limitations. ITW Air Management makes no specific warranty
merchantability or warrant of fitness to a particular purpose.
Insufficient airflow may be caused by the following:
1. Undersized compressed air supply size.
2. Compressed air pressure too low.
3. Insufficient compressed air volume (SCFM, SLPM).
4. Partial or complete blockage of internal compressed air path, due to
dirt.
5. Loose cold cap (if disassembled for cleaning).
If trouble persists, please contact Vortec at 1-800-441-7475.
trOubLeShOOting
The compressed air supply must be filtered (5 micron maximum) to
remove water and dirt. If oil is present in the compressed air supply,
remove the oil using a .01 micron (maximum) coalescing filter. Filter
recommendations are given in Table 1. Model 29625 consumes 25
scfm (708 slpm) of air at 100 psig (6.9 bar) and Model 29635 consumes
35 scfm (991 slpm) of air at 100 psig (6.9 bar).
Filter elements must be changed on a regular basis. Frequency of
change is determined by the condition of the compressed air supply.
Filters should be installed in the compressed air supply line as close as
possible to the Vortec product.
The appropriate size of compressed air supply line should be selected
to ensure optimal performance of the Vortec product. Please refer to
Table 2 to determine what supply line size is recommended for your
application. Contact Vortec at 1-800-441-7475 for further assistance.

intrODuctiOn
The Vortec Dual Action Personal Air Conditioner (Dual Action PAC) and
Diffuse Air Vest are designed to be used together to provide worker
comfort in extreme temperatures. The vortex tube technology utilized in
the Dual Action Personal Air Conditioner uses filtered, compressed air
to concentrate chilled or heated air on the worker’s torso through the
Diffuse Air Vest. With no moving parts, and under reasonable care, the
Dual Action PAC and Diffuse Air Vest will provide years of trouble-free
operation.

When using the cold air output from the Dual Action PAC, screw the
black exhaust muffler onto the hot end of the unit. When using the hot
air output, move the black exhaust muffler to the cold end. (Refer to the
labeling on the unit.) Connect the non-muffled end to the vest or hood/
helmet via the ¾” male garden hose thread connection. The body of the
Dual-Action PAC can be rotated 180 degrees to allow the compressed
air inlet quick connect fitting to point in the most convenient direction
(pointing down if the air supply hose is laying on the floor or pointing
upward if the air supply hose is suspended from the ceiling).
Diffuse air Vest:
Upon receipt, inspect the vest and contact your Vortec representative
immediately if you suspect damage of any kind to the vest.
Once
the vest is placed into service, it may not be returned under any
circumstances.
Put the vest on and secure at the front using the Velcro
closure fasteners. Be sure to leave enough room to comfortably move
in the vest. Securely attach the flexible hose on the back of the vest to
the Dual Action PAC. Adjust the belt supplied with the Dual Action PAC
to fit securely around the outside of the vest, and still allow comfortable
movement to the wearer.
The ensure efficient operation, keep the Velcro neck flaps closed
if using Model 29625. If using Model 29635, the neck flaps may be
opened to provide cooling to the head and neck of the wearer.
The Dual Action PAC and Diffuse Air Vest may be used under welding
leathers, coveralls and other protective garments, but the warm or
cold air exhausted from the Dual Air PAC must be vented outside the
garment.
