Fault code
FMI 3
Abnormally high voltage or short-circuit to higher voltage.
Conditions for fault code:
•
If the instrument cluster registers a resistance
greater than 19.5 K
the instrument cluster inter-
prets this as a fault and a fault code is stored.
Possible cause:
•
Open-circuit in the ground lead.
•
Open-circuit in the signal cable.
•
Faulty sensor.
•
Contact resistance and oxidation.
•
Extreme cold (Colder than -40
C [-40
F]).
Reaction from the instrument cluster:
•
Yellow lamp requested.
Noticeable external symptoms:
•
Yellow lamp lights up.
•
The display shows an icon and the text ”NO DATA”.
Appropriate check:
•
“MID 140 PID 171 Ambient Temperature, Check”
page 38.
FMI 4
Abnormally low voltage or short-circuit to lower voltage.
Conditions for fault code:
•
If the instrument cluster registers a resistance of
less than 47
the instrument cluster interprets this
as a fault and a fault code is stored.
Possible cause:
•
Signal cable short-circuited to ground.
•
Faulty sensor.
•
Extreme heat (Hotter than 90
C [194
F]).
Reaction from the instrument cluster:
•
Yellow lamp requested.
Noticeable external symptoms:
•
Yellow lamp lights up.
•
The display shows an icon and the text ”NO DATA”.
Appropriate check:
•
“MID 140 PID 171 Ambient Temperature, Check”
page 38.
