Inserting/replacing the battery
For the initial commissioning, and when the tester does not produce any audio signal, the bat-
teries must be replaced. Two batteries are enclosed with the tester.
To insert/replace the battery, proceed as follows:
Press the square indentations and pull the battery compartment cover (7) towards the back
of the tester.
Insert two micro-batteries (AAA) into the battery compartment. Pay attention to the polarity
indicated on the housing.
Use alkaline batteries, as they guarantee a longer running time.
Close the battery compartment again, carefully.
Preparation of Tests
• The device is switched on by pressing the on/off switch (5).
• The beeper and red LED (3) switch on briefly for self-testing.
• The flashing red LED demonstrates readiness.
• The tester is switched off by pressing the on/off switch (5).
• The tester turns off automatically after approx. 3 minutes.
Performing tests
a) Voltage test
• Move the device slowly along the tested object, e.g., a cable.
• If the device detects alternative voltage in range of 90...1000 V/AC, the red LED glows con-
tinuously and the tone generator produces an alarm.
• Testing may be influenced by the position of the ground wire in the tested object.
b) Magnetic field tests
• Move the device slowly along the tested object.
• If the device detects a magnetic field, the yellow LED lights up.
• In case of simultaneous detection of electric and magnetic fields, the yellow and the red LEDs
will flash alternately.
c) Torch
• Switch on the torch by pressing and holding the “torch” button (6).
The torch function is only available when the device is switched on.
Cleaning
Prior to cleaning the device, switch the product off.
Live components may be exposed if the covers are opened or parts are re-
moved, unless this can be done manually without tools.
• Do not use scouring, chemical or aggressive cleaning agents such as benzene, alcohol or
similar chemicals. These might attack the surface of the device. Furthermore, the fumes are
explosive and hazardous to your health. Moreover, you should not use sharp-edged tools,
screwdrivers or metal brushes, or the like for cleaning
• To clean the device, use a clean, slightly damp, fuzz-free, antistatic cleaning cloth.
Disposal
a) Product
Electronic devices are recyclable and do not belong in the household waste.
Dispose of an unserviceable device in accordance with the relevant statutory regula-
tions.
Remove any inserted batteries/rechargeable batteries and dispose of them sepa-
rately from the product.
b) Battery
As the end user, you are required by law (Regulation on Spent Batteries) to return all dead
batteries and accumulators. Disposal in the household waste is prohibited.
Batteries/rechargeable batteries contain harmful materials and are labelled with the
symbol shown to indicate that disposal in the household waste is forbidden. The
symbols of the critical heavy metals are: Cd=cadmium, Hg=mercury, Pb=lead (the
marking can be seen on the battery/rechargeable battery, e.g., underneath the re-
fuse bin symbol shown on the left).
You can return your used batteries/rechargeable batteries free of charge at the official col-
lection points of your community, in our stores, or at places where batteries or rechargeable
batteries are sold.
