• Do not leave the battery connected to the charger when the charger is not needed.
Disconnect the charger from the mains voltage, unplug it from the mains socket.
Disconnect the battery from the charger. Afterwards keep the product in a clean,
dry place and out of the reach of children.
• Only use the device in a moderate climate, do not use it in a tropical climate.
For more information on acceptable environmental conditions, see the chapter
„Technical data“.
• Never use the product immediately after it has been brought from a cold room
into a warm one. The resulting condensation may lead to malfunctions or damage
under certain circumstances! Furthermore, this could cause a lethal electric shock!
Allow the charger (and the battery/batteries) to reach room temperature before
connecting the charger to the mains voltage and using it. This may take several
hours!
• Please handle the product carefully. The product can be damaged if crushed,
struck, dropped even from a low height or subjected to mechanical pressure and
vibrations.
• If it can be assumed that safe operation is no longer possible, the product must
be turned off and precautions must be taken to ensure that it is not used uninten-
tionally.
It can be assumed that safe operation is no longer possible if the product is visibly
damaged, the product does not work at all, if it was stored long-term in unfavour-
able conditions, or if it was exposed to severe stresses during the transport.
d) Handling rechargeable batteries
• Keep rechargeable batteries out of the reach of children. Always keep recharge-
able batteries out of the reach of children.
• Do not leave small rechargeable batteries lying around openly. Children or pets
may swallow them. In such a case, call a doctor immediately!
• Rechargeable batteries must never be short-circuited, taken apart or thrown into
fire. There is a risk of fire and explosion!
• If your skin comes into contact with leaking or damaged batteries, you may suffer
burns. Thus you should use suitable protective gloves.
• Use the charger to charge only rechargeable batteries with the appropriate
technology. Select the appropriate mode for the battery (lead-based battery or
LiFePO
4
battery) before charging.
• Never attempt to use this device to charge other types of rechargeable or non-
rechargeable batteries. There is a risk of fire and explosion!
Non-rechargeable batteries are meant to be used once only and must be disposed
of when empty. Charge rechargeable batteries intended for that use only.
• Batteries must not get damp or wet.
• Never damage the exterior of a battery. There is a risk of fire and explosion!
Moreover, highly corrosive acid may leak out of lead-based batteries; risk of injury!
• Never charge damaged, leaking or deformed batteries. This can result in a fire or
explosion! Dispose of such unusable batteries in an environmentally compatible
manner.
Handle the battery with care, use suitable protective gloves.
• Never charge/discharge rechargeable batteries unattended.
• Before connecting the charger to the battery, you have to disconnect the battery
from all connected devices/cables.
• Please observe the correct polarity (plus/+ and minus/-) when connecting the
charger to the battery.
• Do not charge a battery as long as it is still hot. Allow the battery to cool down to
room temperature before attempting to recharge it.
• Recharge the batteries about every 3 months, as otherwise there may be a total
discharge due to self-discharge, which makes the batteries useless.
• Disconnect the battery from the charger when the battery is fully charged.
• Improper use (too high charging current or incorrect polarity) can supercharge or
damage the rechargeable battery. In the worst case, the rechargeable battery can
explode and thereby cause serious damage.
• Ensure that the battery does not overheat during usage, recharging, discharging,
transport or storage. Do not place the battery adjacent to sources of heat, keep
the battery away from direct sunlight. There is a risk of fire and explosion if the
battery overheats!
• Refer to the manufacturer‘s instructions for the battery‘s permissible environmen-
tal conditions.
Start-up, charging process
Only connect one single rechargeable battery to the charger at a time. Do not con-
nect several batteries with each other.
• Disconnect first all connected equipment and cables from the battery.
If this is not followed, you risk damage to the connected equipment, loss of guaran-
tee/warranty!
• If necessary, carefully remove dirt and corrosion from the battery contacts.
• Attach the red alligator clip of the charger cable to the positive terminal of the battery; then
attach the black alligator clip of the charger cable to the negative terminal of the battery.
The alligator clips must be connected to the terminals of the battery firmly and se-
curely. Take care that this will not cause a short-circuit; explosion!
• Connect the charger to a mains socket (220 - 240 V/AC, 50 Hz). Initially all LEDs are flashing
2x at the same time.
The green LED „ “ for the power indicator is now permanently illuminated. The device is
in standby mode.
Should the charger be unplugged during the charging process and then reconnect-
ed, the charger will continue with the charging process automatically, the green LED
„ “ is not steady.
Charging a lead-based battery (nominal voltage 6 V or 12 V)
• If the green LED „ “ is on, press the „MODE“ button on the charger briefly to start the
charging process. The charger checks the battery voltage and thus automatically detects
whether a lead-based battery with 6 V or 12 V is connected. The associated LED „6V“ or
„12V“ is flashing.
The charger will automatically check the battery voltage. If a 12 V battery is however
totally discharged, it may be detected as a 6 V battery.
Use this charging mode only if a lead-based battery (nominal voltage 6 V or 12 V) is
connected to the charger. Never use this charging mode for a LiFePO
4
battery; there
is a risk of fire and explosion!
• To terminate/cancel the charging process press briefly the „MODE“ button. The green LED
„ “ for the power indicator is now steady. The device is in standby mode.
• End the charging process when the „100%“ LED is steady on. To do this unplug the charger
from the mains socket. Then disconnect the black alligator clip from the battery, followed by
the red one.
Charging a LiFePO
4
battery (4 cells, nominal voltage 12.8 V)
• To charge a 4-cell LiFePO
4
battery (nominal voltage 12.8 V), press and hold the „MODE“ but-
ton for 3 seconds until the LED „12.8V“ goes on. The charger checks the connected battery
and will automatically start the charging process.
Use this charging mode only if a 4-cell LiFePO
4
battery (nominal voltage 12.8 V) is
connected to the charger. Never use this charging mode for a lead-based battery;
there is a risk of fire and explosion!
LEDs for charging status
Four LEDs on the charger show the connected battery‘s charging status in the course of the
charging process:
LED
Function
25%
Charging status <25%: LED flashes
Charging status >=25%: LED is steady on
50%
Charging status 25% - 49.9%: LED flashes
Charging status >=50%: LED is steady on
75%
Charging status 50% - 74.9%: LED flashes
Charging status >=75%: LED is steady on
100%
Charging status 75% - 99.9%: LED flashes
Charging status 100%: LED is steady on (battery is fully charged)
