FLEX PACK PROGRAMMED OPERATING LIMITS
To protect the Flex Pack, the Battery Management System (BMS) prevents
the Flex Pack from operating beyond several programmed limits These limits
protect the Flex Pack from environmental conditions to prolong the life of the
pack Refer to the table below for a summary of some of these limits

High Temperature
Shutdown
High temperature at which
the Volta System shuts down
Greater than 134°F
(57°C)
High Temperature
Shutdown Recov-
ery
If the Flex Pack reaches the
High Temperature Shutdown
limit, the Flex Pack will not
allow restart until the tem-
perature drops below this
limit
126°F (52°C)
Low Temperature
Shutdown
Low temperature at which
the Volta System shuts down
Less than -4°F
(-20°C)
Normal Operating
Range (Charge)
Temperature range at which
the BMS allows the Flex Pack
to charge Above or below
this temperature range, the
Flex Pack will not charge,
even when connected to a
charge source
37°F to 116°F (3°C
to 47°C)
High Temp Charge
Recovery
If the Flex Pack reaches
maximum charging tem-
perature limit, the Flex Pack
will not allow charge until the
temperature drops to this
temperature
109°F (43°C)
Low Temp Charge
Recovery
If the Flex Pack reaches
minimum charging tem-
perature limit, the Flex Pack
will not allow charge until the
temperature raises to this
temperature
43°F (6°C)
Normal Operating
Range (Discharge)
Temperature range at which
the BMS allows the Flex Pack
to discharge (power electrical
systems and devices). Above
or below this temperature
range, the Flex Pack will
shutdown
-4°F to 134°F
(-20°C to 57°C)
