Steering column lock
The steering column locking lever is made from plastic and has been placed on the left-hand side for
ergonomic reasons. This has allowed the crash safety in the knee area to be improved considerably without using
a complex knee airbag.
Also the locking mechanism and thus the closing force for the steering column lock has been revised for easier use.
The Tiguan steering column is based on the
Golf Plus steering column. It has an
adjustment range of 50mm for the height
and 50mm for reach.
The steering column is locked mechanically.
