5.2 Tympanic mode:
The temperature in the right ear may differ from that of the left ear.
Therefore, you should always take the temperature in both ears and
use the highest temperature as a reference. The ear must be free of
excessive wax build-up or plugs, so that the temperature measure-
ment is accurate. In the event of otitis,
Easyscan
™
should be used
in temporal mode. External factors can influence the temperature
reading in the ear, as in the following cases where the patient:
- Is lying on one ear
- Has their ears covered
- Is exposed to very hot or very cold temperatures
- Recently went swimming or took a bath.
In the above cases, place the patient in another environment and
wait 20 minutes before taking their temperature. If the event of auri-
cular therapy (prescription ear drops or other internal medication), be
careful not to take the ear temperature of the treated ear. Since the
ear canal is under treatment, the temperature reading displayed by
Easyscan
™
will not reflect the actual body temperature.
Recommendations
1. For inexperienced users, it is recommended to measure the same ear 3
times during the first use. The maximum value will be saved if different
results are recorded, for every thermometer under continuous opera-
tion may show a slight margin of error (+/- 0.3°C ,+/- 0.5°F).
2 . Wait about 60 seconds before measuring the same patient again to
avoid excessive cooling of the skin.
3. For healthy users, both ears are equivalent in terms of body tempera-
ture. Choose the ear that has a relatively stable temperature, higher
than the other ear.

9- CHOICE OF TEMPERATURE UNIT
Press the

button to select the temperature unit. The display shows
°C
to display degrees Celsius or
°F
to display degrees Fahrenheit.
10- HOW TO MEASURE TEMPERATURE
Insert the batteries. For the first use or when inserting new batteries, wait
about 10 minutes to preheat the device.
10.1 For a temporal measurement: Keep the tip
containing the temporal probe on the unit.
Place the probe against the right temple
(SEE DIAGRAM
A
PAGE 3). Then press
the button once to start the temperature
reading and release it: the unit will beep
once. When the reading is complete the unit
will beep 2 times. The result is displayed on
the screen for one minute then the ambiant
temperature appears on the screen for one
minute too, with the logo
.
10.2 For a tympanic temperature measurement:
Remove the tip of the temporal probe from
the unit, insert the tympanic probe along the
ear canal. (SEE DIAGRAM

PAGE 3) Then
press the button once to start the tempera-
ture reading and release it: the unit will beep
once. When the reading is complete, the unit
will beep 2 times. The result is displayed on
the screen.
- Visual diagnosis: Back-lit colour display to indicate and quickly interpret
the diagnosis of the temperature reading.
- Audio diagnosis:
• When the reading is less than 37.5°C, the unit will make 3 short beeps.
• When the reading is higher than 37.5°C, the unit will make 3 triple
beeps.
Before any temperature measurements, take care to brush away the hair
and clear any sweat from the forehead.
The result is automatically stored. When taking consecutive temperature
measurements, it is possible that the results will not be identical. Wait at
least 1 minute between each reading.
