By-alarm
01722
By-alarm curtain detector, with dual technology, to protect entrances
and openings such as doors, windows, covered terraces, corridors
and French doors, surface mounting.
The device is a dual technology curtain sensor with an angle of aperture of 140°
by 15°.

• Ambient humidity: 95%
• Degree of safety: 2 (EN 50131-2-4)
• Ambient class: II (EN 50131-2-4)
LED indicators
• Red: Infrared detection
• Green: Microwave detection
• Red+Green: Alarm
FUNCTIONALITY
• Adjustable range
• Selectable detection sensitivity
• Microstrip microwave 10.525 GHz
• Anti-flicker circuit
• Remote LED viewing
• Installation height up to 4 m
• Sealed optics
• Coverage 140° x 15° for 4 m
• End of line impedance (DEOL) can be selected on board 13 values
LINE BALANCING
The detector is equipped with selectable end-of-line resistors to connect the device
to control panels with Double Balancing (DEOL).
To achieve Double Balancing, use the corresponding jumpers to select the Tamper
resistors (series) and Alarm on J1; finally connect the EOL output to the control
panel zone input.
Caution: By leaving the jumpers open as per factory settings the detector will
remain configured like any sensor with NC contacts.
Connection for Vimar By-alarm system
Follow the double balancing instructions depending on the desired mode and
select values 3k3 for TAMPER and 4k7 for ALARM.
DETECTOR CONFIGURATION
Microwave capacity adjustment
Using the trimmer, set the minimum value, go to the end of the area to protect
and, with the LEDs off, move your body under the area to protect and check the
microwave detections via the GREEN LED.
If the LED does not light up, increase the range by turning the trimmer clockwise
and repeat the test until you obtain the required conditions.
N.B. The microwave range should always be set to the minimum necessary.
Detection modes
• Low
sensitivity: SENS jumper open
Detection mode suited for protecting closed entrances or entrances with obsta-
cles that cannot be quickly crossed (e.g. doors, windows, etc.).
•
High sensitivity: SENS jumper closed
Detection mode suited for protecting open entrances that can be quickly crossed
(e.g. corridors, etc.).
Viewing detections
-
LED
jumper open: LED viewing enabled (LED ON)
-
LED
jumper closed: LED viewing disabled (LED OFF)
If you want to enable viewing the LEDs in LED OFF mode, simply disconnect and
reconnect the power supply to the detector that will thus go into LED ON mode
for 40 min.
When powering up the detector in any case goes into LED ON mode for 40 min
regardless of the settings in order to run the coverage test.
INSTALLATION RULES
• Installation should be carried out by qualified personnel in compliance with the
current regulations regarding the installation of electrical equipment in the country
where the products are installed.
• For installation, use halogen-free shielded cables suitable for installation with
Category 1 power cables (U0 = 400 V) art. 01734.E (2x0.50mm
2
+ 4x0.22mm
2
).
The length of the connections must not exceed 100 m.
• The device should be mounted horizontally in the middle, at the top of the area to
be protected, with the lens pointing down.
It is recommended to never aim the
sensor with the lens facing upward
.
• Its coverage in width is equal to twice the height of installation (for example, if it is
in the middle of a window 1 m tall, its width coverage will be 2 m - see Figure 2 in
COVERAGE DIAGRAMS).
• Remove the front panel and remove the board by pressing on the finger; then cut
the pre-punched holes on the base and fix the bottom with the two screws and
plugs.
In order to increase RFI immunity use a shielded cable with the shielding grounded
only on the control panel side.
Finger
• Power up the detector that will then run a self test for 60 s; afterwards, proceed
with configuration.
STANDARD COMPLIANCE
Standard EN 50131-2-4.
RED directive.
Standards EN 60950-1, EN 50130-4, EN 50130-5, EN 61000-6-3, EN 300 440, EN

WEEE - Information for users
If the crossed-out bin symbol appears on the equipment or packaging, this means the pro-
duct must not be included with other general waste at the end of its working life. The user
must take the worn product to a sorted waste center, or return it to the retailer when pur-
chasing a new one. Products for disposal can be consigned free of charge (without any new
purchase obligation) to retailers with a sales area of at least 400 m
2
, if they measure less
than 25 cm. An efficient sorted waste collection for the environmentally friendly disposal of
the used device, or its subsequent recycling, helps avoid the potential negative effects on
the environment and people’s health, and encourages the re-use and/or recycling of the
construction materials.
