VIKING YOUSAFE
™
VANGUARD LIFEJACKET (PV9380)
Inflation of VIKING YouSafe
TM
Vanguard
(PV9380) may be performed in three ways:
a: Automatic inflation:
The buoyancy chamber inflates within approx.
5 seconds after water immersion.
b: Manual inflation:
The lifejacket inflates with a strong pull of the
release handle at the right side of the lifejacket.
If this chamber does not work, the second
chamber may be activated with a strong pull of
the release handle placed at the left side of the
lifejacket.
c: Oral inflation:
Open the protective cover and blow air into one
of the oral inflation tubes.
WARNING: Although it has been tested to
withstand excess pressure, never inflate the
lifejacket orally before automatic or manual
inflation.
4. MAINTENANCE
Maintenance of your lifejacket as well as initial
testing is essential to your safety in case of an
accident. The lifejacket must be handed in for
annual service at a VIKING certified servicing
station. Find your nearest servicing station on
www.VIKING-life.com.
NOTE: If the lifejacket is equipped with an
automatic Halkey Roberts
®
inflator, the bobbin
must be replaced annually from first use. Do
not use bobbins more than four years old. The
production date is printed on the bobbin itself.
4.1 CHECKING BEFORE USE
Check lifejacket before each use according to
manufacturer’s instruction:
- Check that the lifejacket is undamaged.
- The indicators in the windows must be green.
- Check straps and buckles.
IMPORTANT: If the lifejacket is not intact, do
not use it. Make sure that the release lines are
placed underneath the flaps and that handles
are placed in the holders.
4.2 CLEANING
Clean the lifejacket in mild soapy water only.
4.3 PACKING
Please see packing photos on flap.
4.3A PACKING OF LIFEJACKET WITH HALKEY
ROBERTS
®
INFLATOR
1. Place the lifejacket on a table, unzip
protective cover. Both sliders must be in an
open position at the top of the protective
cover. Fold up the bottom section on the
right side of the buoyancy chamber. It must
have the same length as the cover.
2. Fold the inner section on the left side
towards the middle.
3. Fold the outer section on the left side
towards the middle so that the release
unit is on top. Pass the release line and
handle through the bottom of the cover.
IMPORTANT: Make sure that the release line
and handle are hanging freely and visible
outside the protective cover.
4. Zip the cover – starting at the bottom at the
left side – and zip up 20 cm. Close the hook
and loop fastener.
5. If the lifejacket is equipped with a
sprayhood, fold the sprayhood three times.
Fold the neck like a fan with the welding
visible. Place the sprayhood into the neck
folds. Make sure that the welding of the
neck part is still visible.
6. Close zipper, fold sprayhood carefully,
especially at the rounding so it will lay as
smooth as possible. Close zipper until center
back neckline, fold the sprayhood at the
right side from the center back neckline. The
sprayhood and buoyancy chamber must lay
as smooth as possible.
7. Fold up the bottom section on the right side
of the buoyancy chamber. It must have the
same length as the cover.
8. Fold the inner section on the right side
towards the middle.
