Mulching kit AMK 045
With a mulching kit, a conventional lawn
mower can be converted into a multi-
mower. For this purpose, the mowing
blade must be replaced with the multi-
blade.
A multi-mower can be used as a grass
collector (with grass catcher box), a rear
discharge mower (with discharge flap
closed), or as a mulching mower (with a
mulch insert).
Observe the instruction manual for the
lawn mower, particularly the "For your
safety" and "Maintenance" sections. The
instructions for blade maintenance must
always be observed.
Disconnect the spark plug socket (MB) or
mains plug (ME) before performing any
work on the lawn mower.
Before each use, perform a visual check to
ensure that the mulch insert, strip, multi-
blade and blade fastening are in good
condition.
Only use the mulch insert in conjunction
with the multi-blade.
3. 1 Installing the multi-blade
● Tilt the lawn mower upwards into
the cleaning position and remove
the mowing blade (see the instruction
manual for the lawn mower).
● Discard the blade fastening screw and if
necessary the retaining washer.
● Clean the blade contact surface and
blade bushing.
● Fit the multi-blade (A) with the curved
wings pointing upwards (towards the
mower) onto the blade bushing.
● Use a suitable wooden block (1) to
counterhold the multi-blade (A).
● Apply Loctite 243 to the thread of blade
fastening screw (D) or blade fastening
screw (E).
● MB 545 without BBC:
Screw in blade fastening screw (D)
together with retaining washer (G)
(observe convexity) and tighten.
Tightening torque:
60 - 65 Nm
● MB 545 with BBC:
Screw in blade fastening screws (F)
and tighten.
Tightening torque:
45 - 55 Nm
● ME 545:
Screw in blade fastening screw (E) and
tighten.
Tightening torque:
1 8 Nm
● Install strip. ( Ö 3.2)
3.2 Installing the strip
● Fasten strip (B) to the housing
using 3 self-tapping screws (H)
as shown.
Tightening torque:
3 - 4 Nm
● Set the lawn mower on its wheels.
3.3 Mulch insert
A Inserting mulch insert:
● Open the discharge flap and hold
it open.
● Insert mulch insert (C) in the discharge
chute and press from above until both
retaining lugs (1) audibly engage in the
housing (see illustration).
● Close the discharge flap. The lawn
mower is ready for mulching.
