Benefits include: the ability to power-up the projec-
tor from a central location, saving time and adding
professionalism: automated device scheduling, to save
money and lower power consumption; the option to re-
ceive critical alerts, via email, to replace lamps or carry
out maintenance tasks proactively; and the capability
to send presentations to multiple projectors simultane-
ously ideal for centralised broadcasts.

 BrilliantColor and VIDI technology

ViewSonic’s DLP (digital light processing) projectors
use BrilliantColor technology: a six segment colour
wheel that allows up to five primary colours. The result
is enhanced colour depth and improved brightness
which in turn means a better presentation experience
especially for high detail slides and video. VIDI, from
Philips and Texas Instruments, allows for multiple
settings with one colour wheel. (This allows brightness
to be boosted in video mode but colour fidelity to be
favoured in data mode).

n

Direct on/off

In a busy classroom nobody wants to be waiting
around while a projector ‘boots’ or takes several min-
utes to cool down before it can be left or stored. Direct
on/off means instant on and instant off which saves
time and improves efficiency.

n

Silent running

Noisy projectors distract teachers and students. View-
Sonic’s DLP-based education projectors are designed
to be quiet. They use efficient moving parts and fluent
air-flow (which means lower fan speeds). High elastic-
ity rubber avoids resonance with the table from the
spinning colour wheel. The colour wheels themselves
have also been improved for balance, noise absorp-
tion and less vibration. With these measures in place,
ViewSonic projectors have a noise rating as low as
27dB which in relative terms is in-between whispering
and the sound of a quiet library.

Education projectors:

the state of the art

The ViewSonic projection range features all of the
current technologies that are right at the cutting
edge of projection technology, and which have
been proved to have a positive effect on learning
outcomes:

n

Short-throw

Education buyers have been quick to identify
the advantages of short-throw projection which
allows close proximity of projector to screen
which in turn means that the audience sit behind
the projector not in front of it. Short throw is very
appealing as it facilitates really good projection in
all room types.

n

3D

No longer a novelty, 3D presents some great
opportunities for teaching, especially now that
an increasing amount of 3D content is available.
ViewSonic offers a number of projectors with 3D
capabilities so this is no longer a future technol-
ogy – it’s here today.

n

Interactive

If you want interactive whiteboard functionality
without the price and complexity of an interactive
whiteboard, ViewSonic’s interactive pen provides
a cost-effective alternative. It recognises the
exact location of the pixel that you are pointing at
and sends that to your PC via the projector.
