X819-03-01 Rev 102 V896MA Mounting Adapter
Introduction
The information in this instruction manual covers the installation of Model V896MA Mounting Adapter for the
V896MSH Maximum Security Housing. This unit should only be installed by a qualified technician using
approved materials in accordance with national, state and local codes. Read this manual through completely
before attempting installation.
The V896MA Mounting Adapter is used when the V896MSH Maximum Security Housing is to be mounted to a
vertical surface, like a wall or square pole. Before installing the V896MA, refer to Instruction Manual X795 for the
installation of the V896MSH housing and observe all Notes, Cautions and Warnings listed there.
Installation
To mount the V896MA, follow the steps below. Refer to Figure 1.
Note:
Be certain that the area behind the selected mounting location is clear of obstacles (such as studs,
electircal wiring, pipes, etc.) which would interfere with the mounting of the unit. Video, power, and control
cables should be routed to the selected mounting location.
Caution:
Mount this unit to structural materials with sufficient strength to carry the weight of the entire
system, including housing and camera. Do not attempt to mount to drywall material or to a single
2 x 4-inch wall stud.
1. Position the mounting adapter upside down (with mounting holes and cable holes facing up) on a table.
Allow the mounting flange at the end of the adapter to overhang the edge of the table in order to permit the
adapter to lie horizontally and not be tilted.
2. Remove the ten (10) Phillips flat head screws securing the housing base plate to the housing.
Two rectangular gaskets are supplied with the V896MA Mounting Adapter. If the housing is to be installed
outdoors or in a location subject to heavy moisture, use these gaskets in the installation as described below.
Units mounted indoors in dry areas do not require the gaskets.
3. Place the appropriate gasket on the mounting adapter, taking care to align the mounting screw holes.
Position the housing base plate over the adapter, aligning the holes in the housing, gasket and mounting
adapter. Refer to Figure 2.
4. Make holes through the gasket on the housing base plate and fasten the housing base plate to the
mounting adapter with six (6) 10-32 screws, flat washers and lock washers from the mounting adapter
accessory pack.
5. Reattach the housing base plate and mounting adapter to the housing with the ten (10) screws previously
removed.
6. Refer to Instruction Manual X795 and install the camera.
7. Lightly tape or glue the gasket that corresponds to the mounting flange on the mounting adapter into place
to make the next mounting procedures easier.
8. Refer to Figure 3 or use the mounting adapter itself as a template. Mark and drill the holes for the mounting
hardware and cut a cable routing hole.
