A2K-VID-PCB Added Channel Board
Warning: Do not connect the unit to a power source until installation is complete. Read all safety
instructions in Instruction Manual XX040 before performing this procedure. To guard against
damage to the board and additional chip, do not remove them from their electrostatic discharge
protective bags until directed to do so. Take all necessary precautions to prevent static
discharge during installation.
The A2K-VID-PCD Added Channel Option Board allows you to update the live video refresh rate of your
AurorA2000 multiplexer. You may add up to two option boards to your multiplexer. Adding one channel board
will update your multiplexer to a Simplex60 unit. Two added channel boards will increase the refresh rate
from 30 images/second to 90 images/second (Simplex90). One added channel option board and a duplex
option board will update your multiplexer to duplex unit with a refresh rate of 60 images/second (Duplex60).
More information on the duplex option board may be found in Instruction Manual X040-10.
1. Apply power to the AurorA2000. Select
About AurorA2000
from the Menu Selection screen and verify that
the
PCI Slot
fields are as expected. These fields tell you if there are empty slots available for adding one
or more option boards.
2. Disconnect the power from the AurorA2000 and remove the top cover screws.
3. Referring to the figure, locate chip U34. Note that if there is already an option board attached to J9, then
you must remove this board to locate U34. Use a chip extractor tool to carefully remove the old chip and
replace it with the new one, noting the orientation of the notch as shown on the figure. If applicable,
replace the option board and reconnect it to J9.
4. If you are adding two option boards to your AurorA2000, remove the 4 main board screws (see figure)
and set aside. If you will only install one option board, remove the two rightmost main board screws only.
5. Install the 1-inch standoffs in the threaded holes from which the main board screws were removed.
6. Insert the option board(s) into the appropriate PCI adapter boards to create option board/adapter board
assembly. The adapter boards are labeled
Right
and
Left
. Use the table below to determine whether you
should use the right, left or both adapter boards. Note that you may have been supplied with more
adapter boards than are necessary for your installation.
