When the earbud speaker is producing sound at ~4.5kHz (VA1210 resonant
frequency), this can cause false
DOUT
triggers. So, we recommend using hardware
VAD when the speaker is not playing music or voice. Hardware VAD can be used
when ANC is enabled, because ANC does not produce output at 4.5kHz.

You can use the VA1210 as an ultra-low-power
hardware VAD by setting the
MODE
pin high. The
VA1210 will enter Zero-Power Listening (ZPL) mode,
where supply current is only
10uA
.

In ZPL mode,
OUTP
and
OUTM
are disabled, and the
DOUT
pin will latch high when the VA1210 detects
that the wearer is speaking.
DOUT
can be reset low
by lowering the
MODE
pin (or with an I

C command).
