Alignment
Test Setup
Set up the test equipment as shown below for transceiver
alignment.
Entering the Alignment Mode
Alignment of the
FT-270R/E
is performed using a front
panel software-based procedure. To perform alignment
of the transceiver, it must first be placed in the “Align-
ment Mode,” in which the adjustments will be made and
then stored into memory.
To enter the Alignment mode:
1. Rotate the [
VOL/PWR
] knob (inner knob) out of the
click-stop to turn on the radio.
2. Rotate the
DIAL
knob to select the frequency to 145.050
MHz.
3. Turn the power off by rotating the [
VOL/PWR
] knob
fully counter clockwise.
4. Press and hold in the [
VFO
(
PRI
)] key turning the ra-
dio on. Once the radio is on, release the key.
5. Turn the power off by rotating the [
VOL/PWR
] knob
fully counter clockwise.
6. Press and hold in the
PTT
and
MONI
switches turning
the radio on. Once the radio is on, release these two
switches.
7. Press the keypad in the following sequence:

8. Press the [

the display for five seconds, this signifies that the trans-
ceiver is now in the “Alignment Mode.”
PLL Reference Frequency
1. Rotate the
DIAL
knob to select the display to “B0106.”
Press the [
F
] key, then press the [

to set the alignment, then set the transmit power level
to “LOW.”
2. Press the [

] key, then press the [
