storage shelves are shipped together and installed at the same time.

Connecting an appliance to one storage shelf
The steps in this section assume that the appliance and the storage shelf are
shipped together and installed at the same time.
To connect an appliance to one storage shelf

Connect one end of the SAS-3 cable to the left-hand port in the External RAID
PCIe card on the appliance. The blue tab on the SAS-3 connector should be
facing down.
Note:
Cables in the following diagrams are shown in different colors for
demonstration purposes only. The actual cables are black.

Connect the other end of the cable to port A in the top canister of the storage
shelf.
Be sure that you orient the SAS-3 connector in the storage shelf port A so the
blue tab faces down. Refer to the following section for details.
