Safety Alert Symbol
The symbol shown above is used to identify topics of primary safety concern and call attention to
instructions concerning your personal safety. Watch for this symbol, it involves important safety
precautions, and means “ATTENTION! BE ALERT! YOUR PERSONAL SAFETY IS INVOLVED!”
Read the message that follows and be alert to the possibility of personal injury or death.

Signal Words
Signal words designate a degree or level of hazard seriousness. They are used in this manual in
accordance with ANSI Z535.4-1991 and are defined as follows:
Indicates an imminently hazardous situation, which if not avoided, will result in death or serious
injury. This signal word is limited to the most extreme situations.
Indicates a potentially hazardous situation, which if not avoided, could result in death or serious
injury.
Indicates a potentially hazardous situation, which if not avoided, may result in minor or moderate
injury. It may also be used to alert against unsafe practices. It may also be used for property
damage-only accidents.
