Installation and Wiring Instructions for the Quartz Heater. 

 

     IMPORTANT: 
     READ THESE INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE COMMENCING THE INSTALLATION 

 

DO NOT install this product in areas where the following may be present or occur: 

 

Excessive oil or a grease laden atmosphere. 

 

Corrosive or flammable gases, liquids or vapours. 

 

SAFETY AND GUIDANCE NOTES 

A. 

All wiring to be in accordance with the current I.E.E. Regulations, or the appropriate standards of your country and 

MUST

 be installed by a 

suitably qualified person. 

B. 

The Heater should be provided with a local double pole isolator switch having a contact separation of at 
least 3mm. 

C. 

The Quartz Heater 

MUST BE EARTHED.

 

D. 

Ensure that the mains supply (Voltage, Frequency, and Phase) complies with the rating label. 

E. 

It is recommended that the connection to the terminal box is made with flexible cable. 

F. 

The Heater should not be sited in a bathroom or swimming pool area. 

G. 

The Heater should 

NOT

 be sited where it is liable to be subject to direct water spray from hoses etc. 

H. 

This heater is 

NOT

 designed for outdoor use. 

I. 

Do not cover with clothing etc. when in use. 

J. 

Do not insert objects through the slots or openings on the heater. 

K. 

Ensure the mains cable does not come into contact with the heater cover. 

L. DO 

NOT 

handle the halogen lamp with bare hands. If the lamp is accidentally touched, remove finger marks with a soft cloth and 

methylated spirit or alcohol. 

M. 

Ensure that the heater is installed out of reach of children. 

N. 

Do not use an extension cable with this heater. 

O. 

Allow the heater to cool prior to any angular adjustment. 

P. 

The heater should always be installed using the wall mounting brackets provided to ensure adequate clearance from the wall. 

Q. 

A minimum air gap of 450mm should always be allowed between the top of the heater and the ceiling or roof. 

R. 

A Safety distance of 1mtr should always be left in front of a 1.5kW heater.  Heaters of 2kW, 3kW and 4kW should have a safety distance 
of at least 1.5mts. 

S. 

It is recommended the heaters be operated with a guard in front of the lamp and should always be fitted to units mounted below 2.2mtrs. 

 

Installation. 

The essential element of the heater is the halogen filled quartz linear lamp with a tungsten element. This operates at about 2200

°

C and is 

housed in a ruby quartz sleeve to filter out the white light and emit short wave infrared radiant heat. 
 
The lamp operates at full output almost instantly and emits a radiant energy of 1.2microns. 
 

Quartz heaters are recommended by The Electricity council and Building Services Research Association for General space 
heating, Zone heating and localised spot heating 

 

A. 

Mounting. 

Location 

  Heaters should be angled at 30° to 45° from the vertical whether wall or ceiling mounted. 

  There must always be a minimum clearance of 450mm between top of heater and ceiling. 

 

Wall mounting 

  Decide whether vertical movement only (Diagram A) or vertical/horizontal movement (Diagram B) is required for correct positioning of heaters 

and assemble as shown. 

 Avoid

 

mounting heaters on structures liable to vibrate.
