1. Introduction
BOD measurement with BOD Sensor is based on the respirometric method that provides a direct measurement of the
oxygen consumed by microorganisms from an air or oxygen-enriched environment in a closed atmosphere, at a constant
temperature (20 °C ± 0.5) and with a soft sample stirring.
2. Assembly and installation
Upon receipt and after having removed the packaging, please check the integrity of the instrument. The box includes:
•
BOD Sensor
•
Alkali holder
•
Instruction manual
BOD Sensor is delivered with 2 lithium batteries installed: remove the insulating strip from the rear without opening it.
3. Operating controls
The display of the electronic measuring unit is normally turned off reducing he consumption of internal batteries. The touch
of a key activates the display which automatically is turned off after three seconds. The key activates different functions if
the unit is performing a measurement or if it is in memory code.

3.2 Scale selection
Scale
Volume of sample
The scale is related to the
expected BOD value.
The possibility of measuring
diluted samples extends the range.

The measured value overcomes the maximum value of the chosen scale.
bAt
Battery replacement. The charge of batteries does not assure in this case the finishing of a complete cycle.
4. Maintenance
BOD Sensor warns about the required change of batteries when the unit is resetted and the charge is lower than a minimum
threshold. Using a coin lever in the rear part of BOD Sensor and open it. Batteries are removed using the fingers. Introduce
two fresh batteries at the same time paying attention to the polarity. Battery replacement deletes any stored value.
