Vehicle features

Longitudinal seat adjustment:

Pull handle, slide seat, release 

handle. 

Danger:

Do not sit nearer than 25 cm from 

steering wheel, to permit safe 

airbag deployment.

Seat backrests:

Pull lever, adjust inclination and 

release lever. Allow the backrest to 

engage audibly.
Do not angle the backrest too far 

back. We recommend a maximum 

rake of approx. 25

o

Seat height:

Lever pumping motion.
up

= seat higher

down = seat lower

Seat position:

Sit with buttocks are as far back 

against backrest as possible.
Adjust distance between seat and 

pedals so that your legs are slightly 

angled when depressing pedals.
Slide the front passenger seat as 

far back as possible.

Head restraint adjustment:

Press button, adjust height and 

engage in position. The upper edge 

of the head restraint should be at 

upper head level.
To adjust horizontally, pull the 

head restraint forwards. It engages 

in several positions.

Fitting seat belts:

Withdraw seat belt from retractor, 

guide it untwisted across the body 

and insert latch plate in belt buckle.
To release belt, press red button on 

belt buckle.
Fasten seat belt before each trip.

Steering wheel adjustment:

Unlock lever, adjust steering wheel, 

then engage lever and ensure it is 

fully locked. 
Do not adjust steering wheel unless 

vehicle is stationary and steering 

wheel lock has been released.

Electric exterior mirrors:

Select the relevant exterior mirror 

by moving the selector switch to the 

left 

(L)

 or right 

(R)

Then press the control pad to 

adjust the respective mirror.
In the centre position of the selector 

switch, no mirror is selected.

Interior mirror: 

To reduce dazzle, adjust lever on 

the underside of the mirror housing.
Dazzle from following vehicles at 

night is automatically reduced if 

the vehicle is equipped with 

automatic anti-dazzle interior 

mirror.

Power windows:

Front switches operate the front 

windows and rear switches

 

operate 

the rear windows.

Push switch = Open window

„

Pull switch = Close window

Push or pull switch to the second 

detent position and then release: 

Window opens or closes 

automatically with safety function 

enabled. To stop window 

movement, operate switch once 

more in the same direction.
If the window glass encounters 

resistance above the middle of the 

window during automatic closing, 

it is immediately stopped and 

opened again.

Light switch:

Automatic light control:

When the function is switched on 

and the ignition is on, the system 

switches between daytime running 

lights and headlights, depending 

on external lighting conditions.

Daytime running lights:

Increases visibility of the vehicle 

during daylight.

Automatic headlight activation:

During poor lighting conditions, the 

low beam is switched on.
Do not cover the light sensor 

otherwise the 

AUTO

 mode will not 

operate properly.

Exit lighting:

The low beam and reversing lights 

illuminate briefly by doing the 

following:
1. Switch off ignition

2. Open the driver’s door

3. Pull turn signal lever briefly 

 

then release

Some interior lights come on when 

the ignition is switched off. The 

exterior and interior lights remain 

on for a brief period after the door 

is closed and will switch off 

automatically after a short delay.

Entry lighting:

Press button

on remote control: 

Low beam, reversing lights and 

interior lights are switched on 

briefly. 
Lights switch off immediately when 

the power button

 is pressed.

Operating headlight flash, high 

beam and low beam:

Rear fog light:

Turn the fog light band on the lever 

to position

 and release it, to turn 

the rear fog light on or off. The 

band will return to its original 

position when released.
Headlights and sidelights must be 

on for the rear fog light to work.

Headlight range adjustment:

Adapt headlight range to suit the 

vehicle load to prevent dazzling of 

other road users.
Turn thumb wheel 

to required 

position.

Turn and lane-change signals:

Lever up

= Right turn signal

Lever down = Left turn signal
If lever is moved past the resistance 

point, the turn signal is switched on 

constantly. When the steering 

wheel is moved back the turn signal 

is automatically deactivated.
For three flashes, e.g. when 

changing lanes, press the lever until 

resistance is felt and then release.
Move lever to resistance point and 

hold for longer indication.
Switch the turn signal off manually 

by moving the lever to its original 

position.

Hazard warning flashers:

Operated with the 

¨

 button.

In the event of an accident where 

the airbags are deployed, the 

hazard warning flashers are 

activated automatically.

Windscreen wiper:

HI

= Fast 

LO

= Slow

= Adjustable timed 

 

interval wipe

= Off

For a single wipe when the wiper is 

off, press the lever down.
Lever in position

Turn adjuster 

wheel up or down to make wiping 

interval shorter or longer.
Do not use wiper if windscreen is 

frozen. Switch off in car washes.

Windscreen washer:

Pull lever towards steering wheel. 

Washer fluid is sprayed onto the 

windscreen and the wiper swipes 

for a few strokes.

Pedestrian safety alert:

Use this feature to alert people who 

may not hear your vehicle 

approaching.
Briefly press button

 on the end 

of the turn and lane-change signal 

lever and a soft-note alert will 

momentarily sound.
The pedestrian safety alert is only 

available when the vehicle is not in 

Park position

Heated rear window,

Auto defog:

The system monitors high humidity 

inside the vehicle and adjusts to 

outside air supply and turns on the 

air conditioning or the heater if 

necessary. Fan speed may increase 

slightly, to help prevent fogging.
When high humidity is no longer 

detected, the system will return to 

its prior operation.

Electrical parking brake:

To apply, pull switch 

J

 with vehicle 

stationary: the electrical parking 

brake is applied automatically and 

control indicator 

J

 flashes then 

illuminates in the instrument cluster 

when fully applied. For maximum 

force, e.g. parking on inclines, pull 

switch 

twice.

The electrical parking brake can 

always be applied, even if the 

ignition is off.
To release, switch on ignition. Keep 

brake pedal depressed and then 

push switch 

J

To prevent the 12-volt battery from 

draining, avoid repeated use of the 

electrical parking brake switch 

when the ignition is off.

Unlocking and opening tailgate:

Press button 

(

 

on remote control 

 

- or - press lock/unlock button on 

door handle (once or twice, 

depending on configuration) to 

unlock the tailgate.
Press the button under the tailgate 

handle to unlatch, and lift up to 

open the tailgate.

Closing and locking tailgate:

Use interior handle to close. 
Do not press the button under the 

tailgate handle whilst closing or it 

will unlatch again.
Always close the tailgate before 

driving.
Press button 

)

 

on remote control 

 

- or - press lock/unlock button on 

door handle to lock the vehicle.

Opening the bonnet:

Switch ignition off before opening 

the bonnet, otherwise the engine 

will be started automatically. 
Pull bonnet release lever located 

below instrument panel and return 

it to its original position. 
Push safety catch in engine 

compartment to the right and open 

the bonnet fully.
Release bonnet prop rod from its 

retainer above the radiator support 

and place it securely into the 

slotted retainer in the bonnet. 

Closing the bonnet:

Before closing, press the bonnet 

prop rod into its retainer. Lower 

bonnet and allow it to drop into the 

catch. Check bonnet is engaged.

Refuelling:

The fuel system on this vehicle 

requires a refuelling process to 

control evaporative emissions.
Before refuelling, switch off engine 

and any external heaters with 

combustion chambers. 
Switch off any mobile phones.
To refuel:
1. Press the fuel button in the

 

driver’s door for one second.

 

A message is displayed in the 

 

Driver Information Centre (DIC)

 

asking you to wait.

2. When a message is displayed in

 

the DIC confirming the system is

 

ready to be refuelled, the fuel

 

door on the right rear side will

 

unlock.
Push the rear edge of the fuel

 

door inwards and release to

 

open the fuel door.

3. Turn fuel cap anti-clockwise to

 

remove. When refuelling, hang

 

the fuel cap tether from the hook

 

on the inside of the fuel door.
Complete refuelling within

 

30 minutes of pressing fuel

 

button in the driver’s door.

 

Press button again if necessary,

 

to continue refuelling.

4. After refuelling, reinstall the fuel

 

cap by turning it clockwise until it

 

clicks. Close the fuel door.

Do not top off or overfill the fuel 

tank and wait a few seconds before 

removing the nozzle. 
Wipe off any overflowing fuel.

Petrol engine - only use unleaded 

fuel that complies with DIN EN 228.
Use of fuel that does not comply 

with DIN EN 228 or similar can lead 

to deposits or engine damage and 

loss of warranty.
Fuel tank capacity (all models) - 

35 litres.
