4.5 Installing the spacer
If the greenhouse has a double-screen, the Airmix™ system will require an extra part, namely a
spacer. This must be placed between the two screen cloths so that the Airmix™ can extract air from
above the upper screen, otherwise the machine would suck in air from between the two screens. The
lower screen cloth must still be able to move between the Airmix™ housing and the spacer, so that it
can be opened and closed. To ensure that no air is sucked in between the Airmix™ and the spacer,
brush strips and PVC flaps must be mounted on the spacer. Mount the spacer as follows:
use proper tools and equipment;
make sure that the extension can be installed safely - get help if necessary;
what you will need:
o
2 M8 U-clamps U50x50 or U60x55;
o
4 M8 fender washers;
o
4 M8 lock nuts;
o
2 clamping strips;
o
1 cuff;
o
10 self-tapping screws;
Assembly (see Figure 7);
o
slide the cuff (2) over the spacer (1) and place the resulting piece next to the upper
truss lattice above the Airmix™ opening;
o
Attach the spacer to the upper truss lattice with two clamps, four M8 washers and
four M8 lock nuts (as shown in Figure 3);
o
Slide the cuff down to cover the gap between the Airmix™ and the spacer;
o
Attach the cuff to the spacer using two clamping strips (3) and self-locking screws.
o
Check that the aluminium carriage of the screen cloth passes under the spacer.
N.B. There is a possibility to place a stainless steel shaft in the cuff for more strengthening. Contact
Van der Ende Groep for the possibilities.
