OVER FIRING & CHIMNEY FIRES
Do Not
over fire your appliance. Using
flammable liquids or too much wood or firing the
stove at maximum for prolonged periods may
result in over-firing. If the chimney connector or
casing glows red the appliance is being over-
-fired this may result in a chimney fire. If this
occurs :-
•
Call the Fire Service -
Dial 999
•
Immediately close all of the air inlets to the
appliance to reduce the air supply to the fire.
•
Move items of furniture and combustibles
away from the stove to reduce the risk of a fire
and to allow access for the Fire Service.
•
Ensure access to the loft space is available.
•
Evacuate the property
A chimney fire may cause structural damage to
the chimney, DO NOT use the appliance until the
chimney and connector has been repaired or
replaced. This should be done by a HETAS
registered engineer.
MULTI PURPOSE OPERATING
TOOL
Your
Arden
stove comes with a multi-purpose
tool which is used to remove the ash pan (See
Fig.9) Fit the fork end of the tool into the two
slots in the ash pan rear face, ensure the forks
are fully engaged to prevent an accident from
occurring.
AIR INLET CONTROLS
The
Arden
stove has two air inlet controls:-
•
The air wash system (so called because pre
-heated air washes across the inner face of
the door glass keeping it clean) which pro-
vides over draught
•
The primary air inlet, providing under
draught to the base of the fire chamber
through controls on the bottom of the stove
door.
AIRWASH SYSTEM
The air wash has an internal sliding plate with
slots, housed within the door casting and is
located at the top of the door. Sliding the knob
to the extreme right fully opens the air wash,
sliding to the extreme left fully closes the air
wash. (See fig. 10 & 11)
PRIMARY AIR
Moving the knob to the right opens the internal
slider allowing, air to enter the appliance.
Moving the control to the left, closes the slider.
This is useful when first lighting the fire as
extra under draught air is required to establish
the fire, but this control should be in the
closed
position when burning wood.
