4.10 Setting the Handover Tone
A handover is the process of transferring a call from one cell station to
another as the handset moves through the service area. The handover tone
indicates that the handset is searching for a cell station with a stronger radio
signal in the service area to maintain the communication link. If the
handover is performed, there will be no difference in the quality of the call,
since the link is maintained.
However, if the handover fails the quality of the call may degrade, as the
radio signal grows weaker. The handover tone provides an early alert to the
possibility of a service interruption during a conversation.
This function allows you to select whether an alerting tone is heard in the
earpiece of the handset when handover occurs during your phone
conversation. The default setting is “
OFF
”.
1. Press

to display the handover status on
the LCD of the phone.
2. Press
to change the status of the handover tone; the
options
ON-1
or
OFF-0
are displayed in the LCD of the phone.
3. Press

to turn the handover tone
ON
or
OFF
.
The phone sounds a beep and the new setting is displayed.
4. To exit and return to standby mode press
.
If you do not press any keys for 15 seconds the phone
automatically returns to stand-by mode.
